Richard B. Norgaard
Richard B. Norgaard is Professor of Energy and Resources at the University of California, Berkeley. Among the founders of the field of ecological economics, Prof. Norgaard addresses how environmental problems challenge scientific understanding and the policy process, how ecologists and economists understand systems differently, and how globalization affects environmental governance. He is the author of Development Betrayed: The End of Progress and a Co-Evolutionary Revisioning of the Future (1994). He is coeditor of The Oxford Handbook of Climate Change and Society (2011); and Protecting the Commons: A Framework for Resource Management in the Americas (2001). Prof. Norgaard chairs the Delta Independent Science Board of the State of California and is a lead author in the 5th assessment of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
