Grant Development

The Religion, Politics and Globalization Program strives to be a resource at Cal for faculty, graduate students and undergraduates searching for external funding sources toward their work on religion and politics.  For more details, please contact RPGP's Director Sara Bamberger

RPGP teams with scholars to:
  • streamline innovative ideas into grounded projects that appeal to both UC funding mechanisms and external funders' priorities
  • nurture working relationships with faith-focused foundations and other unique sources of support
  • identify potential grant opportunities, and develop grant proposals, budgets, and interdisciplinary research teams
  • simplify the grant application process by coordinating the administrative and bureaucratic aspects of a project
RPGP brings the necessary conceptual, academic and administrative experience to the funding process, helping to make ideas into realities.  We understand the difficulties faculty face in balancing teaching, research and institutional responsibilities; our goal is to act as a readily available resource, so that scholars may focus on the content of their ideas, rather than the small-print details.

If a grant application is successful, RPGP has experience:
  • managing the administrative and financial details of diverse projects
  • coordinating project-related programming, such as lectures, conferences, etc.
  • connecting scholars with other researchers at Cal and around the Bay Area who can provide additional academic and institutional support
  • monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure compliance with university regulations
